4 firms allegedly smuggling out subsidized foodstuff shut down

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 10: A Kuwaiti citizen in his 20s was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit of Jahra Hospital after he consumed pills that are used to treat mental ailments.
According to security sources, the relatives of the youth referred him to Jahra Hospital in critical condition when they saw him lying unconscious in the house. Medical examination revealed that he had consumed pills that are used for treatment of mental ailments.
A case was registered for investigations.

4 firms shut down: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has administratively shut down four companies for allegedly smuggling out of the country subsidized foodstuff, reports Al-Kuwaitiah daily.
The daily added the owners of these companies have been referred to Commercial Prosecution.
The daily added the Ministry identified several Kuwaitis who misused their ration cards and resold the subsidized foodstuffs.
The daily added the ministry has cancelled the ration cards of these people after ascertaining they don’t deserve the subsidized foodstuff.

Special Forces vehicle damaged: Police have arrested two Kuwaitis for damaging the vehicle belonging to the Special Forces, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to security sources the incident happened on Damascus Street. The suspects reportedly blocked the vehicle of the Special Forces with their car, refused to move and then deliberately collided with the vehicle.
A case of damaging government property has been filed against the suspects. The Kuwaitis have been handed over to the authorities.

Expensive phone stolen: Police are looking for an unidentified Syrian man for stealing a cell phone from a shop belonging to a Kuwaiti, reports Al-Anba daily.
In his complaint to a police station, the Kuwaiti said the Syrian entered the shop and demanded to see an expensive cell phone.
The man then said he wanted to purchase the phone and handed his civil ID to make a photocopy as per requirements of the law.
When the Kuwaiti went to make photocopy of the civil ID, the Syrian left behind his ID and escaped.
The Kuwaiti has handed over the civil ID to the police and the serial number of the phone.

‘Galaxy’ KD 500 stolen: An unidentified Egyptian man, whose lives with a compatriot in an apartment has filed a complaint with the police accusing unidentified person of breaking into his apartment and stealing his Galaxy cell phone and KD 500, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
Police are looking for the suspect.
