Kuwait unveils squad list for GCC tourney KFA calls for extraordinary general meeting

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 1, (KUNA): The technical administration of Kuwait national team announced on Tuesday the lineup for upcoming 21st GCC football tournament, hosted by Bahrain and scheduled to start next Saturday.
In a press release, Kuwait Football Association (KFA) said the list includes 23 players: Goalkeepers: Nawaf Al-Khaldi, Hamid Al-Qallaf, and Abdulaziz Kamil Defense lineup: Mohammad Rashed, Hussain Fadhil, Amer Al-Matouq, Musaad Neda, Ali Maqseed, Fahad Awadh, and Mohammad Furaih.
The statement added the midfielders will be Khaled Al-Qahtani, Fahad Al-Ansari, Hamad Aman, Waleed Ali, Fahad Al-Enezi, Hussain Hakim, Talal Nayef, Abdulaziz Al-Sulaimi.
The strikers will be Bader Al-Mutawa, Abdulhadi Khamees, Fahad Al-Rashidi, Yousef Nasser, and Abdulrahman Al-Shameri.
The statement also noted that eliminated players due to regulations of the tournament are Mohammad Dahash and Talal Fadhel.
In the statement as well, head of the Kuwaiti delegation Yousef Al-Yatama commented on the elimination of both players as being difficult, noting that those players had shown commitment and skill during the training camp.
Meanwhile, Kuwait Football Association (KFA) called Tuesday for an extraordinary general assembly meeting on February 14th to amend the 32nd Article of KFA’s statute.
KFA President sheikh Dr Talal Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah expressed in a press conference his gratitude for His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for issuing a Decree regarding sports laws which complied with international laws to further avoid suspension of Kuwait’s international participation.
Sheikh Talal said that if the decree would be rejected by the National Assembly, then this would bring “us back to zero and Kuwait Football National team will be banned from participation in the upcoming 21st GCC football tournament in Bahrain, including other regional and international sport events. “ As far as Kuwait’s chances in winning the 21st GCC title in Bahrain, Sheikh Talal said that the Kuwaiti team, being the defending champion, has the skilled players and talent to win this trophy, and with regard to the team’s Serbian Coach Goran contract, Sheikh Talal said will continue to be the coach until next June.
