Illegally promoted MEW workers demoted Drug overdose kills Kuwaiti, Saudi; freed Iranian loses life

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 29: Two individuals – Kuwaiti and Saudi Arabian, died after taking overdose of drugs, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
A security source said the Operations Department of the Interior Ministry received a call from a tenant of a building reporting the incident.
According to the tenant, he felt the absence of the two men for three days, so he went and knocked at their door. He went ahead and broke the door open when he received no answer, then found them motionless on the ground.
Preliminary examination by Criminal Evidences Men indicated they died of overdose of drugs. The corpses were referred to forensics, and police are conducting investigation on the incident.

Iranian dies: A 65-year old Iranian man died at the deportation centre and his corpse was referred to forensics, reports Al-Rai daily.
It is reported the Iranian was serving a jail term in the central prison and was released for health reasons, as he was suffering from several diseases.

Staff demoted: The Administrative Court demoted some 1,550 employees of the Ministry of Electricity and Water and restored them to their previous posts after the ministry violated the rules and regulations of Civil Service Commission (CSC) and promoted them, reports Al-Jarida daily.
The court ordered the employees to return all allowances and financial benefits they received upon their promotion to the state treasury, in line with arrangements by the ministry to return all funds to the state budget.
Administrative sources said CSC had addressed former minister Salem Al-Othaina to provide the list of names of employees eligible for promotion not later than March 2012, but the ministry delayed and declined to provide the names on time, following complaints against favoritism and nepotism with the proposed names. In the end, the Minister of Electricity and Water Abdulaziz Ibrahim issued a decision promoting the employees in August instead of the end of March.

Four girls held: Security operatives arrested four girls while leaving a suspicious building in Salmiya area and referred them to the concerned authorities, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The girls were dressed in indecent clothes and claimed attending a birthday party of their friend, a story the securitymen did not believe.

Taima bedoun protest: Despite the relative calm and security precautions in Taima, a small number of stateless people (Bedoun) could not be prevented from gathering after Friday prayers, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The demonstrators chanted slogans and demanded civil rights and release of detainees after several announcements they made on the social networking sites, including Facebook and Twitter, inviting people join their quest.
The Director of Jahra Security Directorate Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah negotiated with the gathering and listened to their demands, and assured the government is currently working seriously to resolve their issue.
Al-Tarrah said the law applies to everyone without exception, and requested them to leave peacefully after they had expressed their opinions. They responded and started to leave, with the arrival of security patrols.
