Kuwaiti freed in rape charge

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 23: The Criminal Court acquitted a citizen of abducting a 9-year old boy with the intention of assaulting him sexually.
Earlier, the First Instance Court sentenced the citizen to one year in prison for the same allegation.
According to the case file, the accused forced the boy to accompany him after asking the boy the direction to a neighbor’s house. After that, the accused took the boy to a dirty yard and tried to sexually assault him, but he was able to run away.
Attorney of the defendant Attorney Bashar Al-Nassar implored the court to acquit his client based on lack of evidences.

‘Divorce granted’: The Personal Status Court ruled in favor of a woman who had filed for a divorce from husband on grounds the man had left her alone for two years without providing her money for expenses.
The court also ordered the man to pay lawyer’s fees and expenses of the wife.The plaintiff Attorney Zeinab Al-Ramzi told the court according to Article 126 of the Personal Status Law, it is allowed for one of the partners to demand divorce if the marriage was in harm’s way.
She told the court before his travel, the husband was constantly maltreating his wife. She also praised the verdict issued by the court by ruling in favor of her client.

Blogger freed: The Public Prosecution has released blogger Rashed Al-Hajeri on KD 5,000 bail but banned him from travel.
He carries the charge of defaming HH the Amir on his social networking website. In a similar case, former lawmaker Mohammad Al-Juwaihel petitioned the Prosecutor-General against blogger Mishari Bu Yabes for purportedly describing the plaintiff as the ‘Anticipated Mahdi’.
