KUWAIT CITY, Dec 18: The Mosque Sector of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs will forward a memo to the Minister of Justice and Awqaf Sheredah Al-Moasherji to press for cancellation of the decision to allow loudspeakers in the mosques, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The decision of ‘re-allowing’ loudspeakers in the mosques was issued in the era of former Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Jamal Al-Shihab, based upon resentment generally expressed by many directors of mosques and ministry officials.

Sources noted the decision had earlier been issued to close loudspeakers in mosques, as some muezzins and imams had abused this use in the residential areas, and defied regulations governing the use of loudspeakers in farms, cooperative societies and residential areas.
