MEW cuts water supply - 75 houses fail to pay bills

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 9: The Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) on Sunday started disconnecting water supply from 75 houses which belong to state officials who did not respond to notices on the payment of overdue water bills, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting Assistant Undersecretary for Consumer Affairs Abdullah Al-Hajiri.

Al-Hajiri revealed the ministry formed several teams tasked to disconnect water supply from the houses of those who failed to settle their accumulated bills within the specified date.

He said the original number of defaulters amongst the state officials was 588 but it was trimmed down to 75 as many of them have responded to the appeal of the ministry to settle their bills.
He added the teams cut-off water supply from the houses of six state officials on Sunday and they will continue the operations throughout the week.
