‘New Kuwait business law aims at improving sector’ Key areas to be tackled

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 9, (KUNA): Kuwait’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Anas Al-Saleh said on Sunday that a recently drafted law for companies has taken into account governance, development, improving the business environment and maintaining the rights of minor enterprises. The ministry, through the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), has made a series of decisions aimed at alleviating obstacles that face the Kuwaiti industry, the most important being the development of three plots of land for industrial purposes, said Al-Saleh, also the State Minister for Housing.

The three plots are the area of Al-Naayim, located to the west of Kuwait Bay, and Al-Shadadiya, southwest of Kuwait City, along with an additional block in the already-industrial area of Sabhan, he said. “The local industrial sector cannot survive without the allotment of lands, and the KIA has much delayed finding appropriate lands for projects and developing industrial lands, a task that should have been one of the priorities of the KIA’s director general,” he emphasised.
