Kuwait sends list of delegation for Gulf Cup tourney Soccer event to be held in Bahrain from January 5 to 18

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 4: Wednesday is the last day for the teams to submit their entries for the 21st Gulf Cup football tournament, which Bahrain host next month. According to the organising committee spokesperson, only Kuwait has sent the final list of its delegation coming to Bahrain for the prestigious event, to be held from Jan 5 to 18. The remaining teams in the fray are Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iraq, Qatar, Yemen, Oman and Bahrain. A tournament regulation says that each association should send a list of no more than 35 players with photographs on the forms through express mail at least a month before the start of the competition.

But if the association is unable to submit its list before deadline, a BD 2,000 violation fine will be imposed.
Deputy Director of the 21st Gulf Cup for Technical Affairs Mirza Ahmad said that the organizing committee addressed the associations several weeks ago to send the their approved lists of official delegations that include 35 players, 10 working staff and a media co-ordinator.

Ahmad said that the letter was sent to ensure all the required information are sent on time, only that the organizing committee did not receive these applications until now, except the Kuwaiti association who recently sent an official letter back to the organizing committee. Meanwhile, Executive Committee Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa visited the organising committee premises, soon after returning from a short trip to Kuala Lumpur. During the visit, tournament director Ahmed Al Nuaimi briefed Sheikh Salman on what have been accomplished by the sub committees, and the next steps to be made with less than a month to go.

Sheikh Salman praised the great efforts of all members of the committees through their work in the previous stage, which is a clear evidence on their keenness to make this event a great success, and urged them to step up their pace in the coming stage. The organising committee also revealed the type of the ball that will be used for this edition cup. The ‘Nike Maxim’, a FIFA approved a quality ball, features design and performance innovation that offer great responsiveness, touch and stable ball flight for accurate passing and striking. As the ball of choice for the best leagues in the world including the English Premier League, Serie A and La Liga the Nike Maxim ball features Nike Rapid Decision and Response technology that is a lab and field-tested standard of visual performance.

The technology allows players to see the ball better and capitalize on split second scoring and passing opportunities. The bold geometric graphic generates strong visual power with crisp edges for players to pick up on during play. Optimal use of bright colors and sharp contrast allows the ball to be more visible in the stadium and pitch environment. The world’s best football was featured in Nike’s “My Time is Now” campaign last summer, which featured a global roster of the world’s best players, and celebrated the hunger and impatience of young players ready to tear up the rule book to make their mark in football’s elite ranks.
