Bangladeshi caught with 3 kilos heroin for jailed Pakistani

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 2: A team of anti-narcotics officers, led by acting Director General of the Drug Control General Department (DCGD) Brigadier Salah Al-Ghannam, has foiled the attempt by a Bangladeshi taxi driver to sell three kilograms of heroin on behalf of a Pakistani who has been imprisoned at the Central Jail for one-and-a-half year for his involvement in a drug related case.
Acting on a tip-off, Al-Ghannam formed a team of anti-narcotics officers who put the suspect under surveillance. This led to the discovery that the suspect has been using his work as a taxi driver as cover for his drug peddling activities and he used the vehicle to deliver drugs to the houses of his ‘customers’.
The team sent an agent to purchase three grams of heroin for KD 150 from the suspect who was arrested immediately after completion of the bogus transaction. During preliminary interrogation, he admitted to selling drugs on behalf of a Pakistani prisoner at the Central Jail. He then guided the officers to his apartment in Mahboula where the rest of the drugs were uncovered. However, he denied knowing the supplier of the drugs as he merely agreed to sell them.
A case was registered and the suspect was referred to the concerned security department for prosecution.
