Kuwait bars Saudi author from entering Passenger ‘sent back’

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 30: Saudi author Dr Badriya Al-Bishr was prevented from entering the country when she arrived for the book fair where she was to sign her book under the title ‘Get married to a Saudi girl’,” reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
“The reasons for the ban have not been disclosed,” wrote Bishr on her Twitter account. “I was barred from entering the country for unknown reasons.”
Nonetheless, she has expressed her thanks to the Kuwaiti people who have supported and sympathized with her.
Meanwhile, the Kuwait Graduates Society in a statement has resented the decision taken by the government of Kuwait. The statement read, the society resents ban on authors and writers, the latest victim of which was Dr Badriya Al-Bishr.
Meanwhile, a Swedish citizen of Iraqi origin was barred from entering the country for what the authorities said ‘security reasons’, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to the sources, the passenger was sent back to the point of origin, Dubai, aboard the Emirates flight. When the UAE authorities refused him entry and sent him back to Kuwait, he was ‘deported’ to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
