‘Punishment harsh for a good student’ Why, says guardian

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 26: An expatriate teacher working in Al-Farwaniya Intermediate School for Boys is said to have beaten an 11-year old student with silicon-made gun because the student was late to his class, and causing severe psychological trauma with other physical injuries to child.

In her complaints to the daily, guardian of the student stressed it’s unjustified under any situation to use a sharp object to beat a child, since there are several acceptable means of correcting students.

She explained that her child is among the excellent students in the class and didn’t commit any heinous mistake to be beaten in that manner.

According to the woman, she’s also a teacher who educates the children of Kuwaitis and expatriates, noting she teaches her students good manners, respect and values. She wants to know why the expatriate teacher had reprimanded her son in such an offensive manner, indicating this negative trend instills negative behavior among the children. She wondered why the teacher didn’t think of other acceptable ways of correcting the student.
