‘Arrest captain in rape of woman’ Ashour to fight poll disqualification

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 21: The Public Prosecution has ordered the arrest and detention of a military officer working in the Defense Ministry in the rank of captain for allegedly raping a 28-year-old Kuwaiti woman and denying the woman her freedom, according to case number 179/2012.
The woman said she knows the defendant through their communication on the phone, because they intended to buy and sell pet animals. She also said they scheduled a meeting at the residence of the defendant to see the animals and was surprised when suddenly the man attacked her and locked the door and raped her. She noted the man had locked her inside the house for two days, but she managed to escape and filed a report in Mubarak Al-Kabeer police station. Forensics has since confirmed the allegation, following a test conducted on woman.
Meanwhile, the plaintiff attorney Faisal Al-Otaibi alleged that his client has been receiving anonymous calls from a person who claims to be powerful and threatened the woman to withdraw the case. He also said the suspect is still moving around freely without arrest.

Ashour to fight … : Attorney Hawra Al-Habib, the legal representative of former MP and parliamentary candidate Saleh Al-Ashour will defend his client in the Administrative Court to press for his reinstatement in the parliamentary race, as the former lawmaker has not been charged for crimes related to immorality, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
She added a common blunder is observed with the cancellation of the entry of all 37 candidates, and noted the decision of the Higher Electoral Commission ruled out their participation but did not cancel their candidature.

Case adjourned: The Criminal Court has adjourned until Dec 16, 2012 deliberations on a petition filed by former MPs Falah Al-Sawagh, Dr Waleed Al-Tabtabaei, Dr Jamaan Al-Harbash and Mubarak Al-Waalan, in relation to the case of some security forces accused of involvement in the eruption of violence during a seminar at the diwaniya of Al-Harbash a few years ago.
It has been reported that former MP Musallam Al-Barrak attended the session during which he asked the judge to include him on the list of witnesses.
In an unrelated case, the Criminal Court slated a session for Nov 25, 2012 to look into the case filed against an unidentified person who allegedly defamed the Amiri status on Twitter.
