Syrian and an Egyptian in visa racket

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 11: Personnel from the General Immigration Department have arrested two men – a Syrian and an Egyptian – for forging documents and human trafficking, reports Al-Jaridah daily.

The arrest came following the arrest of several marginal workers. The Immigration Department then alerted the Assistant Undersecretary for Nationality and Passports Affairs Major-General Abdullah Al-Rashid and during investigation it became certain that these laborers were holding the residence permit of illusory companies.

Further interrogations with those arrested revealed they had paid money to the Egyptian man for the residence permit following which Al-Rashid asked the concerned authorities to carry out thorough investigations into the illusory companies.

Investigations revealed the company was registered in the name of a Kuwaiti. Although the company file existed in the Ministry of Commerce, there was no record of the company at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor. Twenty-seven employees were registered under the name of the company.

The authorities then summoned the Kuwaiti for interrogation, and set a trap and arrested the Egyptian company representative.

During interrogation he admitted to forging documents with the help of a Syrian.

They have admitted to selling each residence permit for KD 700. The suspects have been referred to the Public Prosecution.
