Officer detained in chase bid Crackdown on vice continues

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 11: A Lance Corporal affiliated to Hawalli Traffic Department sustained leg, hands and hip injuries when a young Kuwaiti man deliberately hit him at a security checkpoint within the vicinity, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Reportedly, when the youth arrived at a checkpoint, the officer checked his Civil ID as well as that of the woman with him. When he discovered that the youth is below the legal driving age, he asked him to pull over to the roadside, but the youth instead fled with the vehicle. The officer pursued him suspecting he might possess drugs or any other illicit item.
The suspect was forced to stop at a traffic signal and the officer walked over to him to persuade him to stop the vehicle to the side for inspection. However, when the green signal went on, the suspect meandered with the vehicle and the officer, who was struggling to get hold of him, fell on the road. Eventually, the suspect escaped from the location.
Ironically, the officer in charge detained the Lance Corporal for three days even though he almost lost his life during the operation. The case has been registered for investigation.

Crackdown continues: Traffic officers of Ahmadi Directorate continued their campaign across the governorate and arrested 7 people without Civil ID cards and another person wanted for various crimes. They also issued 15 traffic violations and impounded 4 vehicles to the ministry garages.
An Interior Ministry press statement confirmed the campaign will continue over an unspecified period to arrest the violators of law.
