KUWAIT CITY, Aug 15: Ministry of Information held a meeting Tuesday morning with representatives from Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Communications, and Fatwa and Legislation Department to discuss about drafting a law to penalize those who misuse social networking websites such as ‘Twitter’ for spreading rumors and publishing embarrassing pictures, reports Al-Kuwaitiah daily quoting a reliable source.

He said several deceptive and false accounts are being created and used to post provocative comments that are capable of inciting rebellion and chaos in the country, adding that the step to draft this law would eliminate such rebellious actions by corrupt people.

He indicated that the representative from Ministry of Communications suggested during the meeting the issuance of a penalty of KD 50,000 and two-year imprisonment against such practices that attempt to insult the social and religious values of the nation and exploit the citizens’ patriotism to provoke chaos.
