Punish wrongdoers, urges Dahoum Oil minister asked to look into allegations
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 22: Minister of Oil Hani Abdulaziz Hussein must look into allegations that some officials in the petroleum sector want to remove certain stipulations of the development plan pertaining to the oil refineries in China and Vietnam, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting MP Bader Al-Dahoum.
Al-Dahoum urged the minister to punish those officials once the allegations are proven true, emphasizing the need to strictly comply with the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to penalize the wrongdoers, regardless of their status or position. He also asked Hussein to lay down a clear mechanism for increasing profits, especially since there have been speculations that the same officials are keen on taking steps which might have a negative impact on the financial status of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC).
In another development, Al-Mostaqbal daily has quoted MP Shaya Al-Shaya as saying that his colleagues, who support the plan of MP Obaid Al-Wasmi to interrogate the prime minister without studying the grilling points, have raised suspicions on their motives.
Al-Shaya asserted every lawmaker has the right to question erring Cabinet members but they should first set aside their differences and work together for the benefit of Kuwait, because the people need positive changes to realize national development goals.
Moreover, Al-Anba daily has reported that MP Hussein Al-Qallaf has forwarded questions to Minister of Information Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah on the steps taken by the ministry against one of the Al-Youm Channel broadcasters, who alleged announced the beginning of the revolution, after the parliament building break-in last year.
Al-Qallaf asked the minister to provide him with a copy of the channel’s license. He wants to know if the ministry has audited the accounts of newspapers and television channels, including Alam Al-Yawm daily and its television counterpart.
