Bedouns demand immediate release of demonstrators
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 18: Several Bedouns staged a sit-in Saturday at Taima Square, demanding the immediate release of those detained for participating in illegal demonstrations in Sulaibiya and Taima some weeks ago.
Holding placards in which their demands and sentiments were written, the demonstrators condemned First Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Sheikh Ahmad Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for his alleged failure to deal with the problems of Bedouns in a humanitarian manner.
A team of security officers rushed to the location after receiving information on the protest action and they asked the demonstrators to disperse peacefully. The sit-in started after Asr prayers and ended peacefully during Maghreb prayers as the protesters heeded the instruction of the security officers for them to leave the area.
