Several liquor bottles seized
Police have arrested an unidentified Asian man for trafficking in liquor. The suspect was arrested in Sharq at late night on suspicion. While issuing a citation police discovered the suspect was under the influence of alcohol and when a policeman checked his vehicle he found 30 bottles of liquor in the car. The liquor bottles and the suspect have been referred to the authorities.
Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti man whose identity has not been disclosed has been referred to the General Department for Drug Control. According to security sources the man was arrested on the Blajat Street in Salmiya for driving under the influence of alcohol. Initially the man was arrested at a police checkpoint for reckless driving and a police officer while issuing him citation discovered he was under the influence of alcohol. Inside the car police saw an empty bottle of liquor on the car seat. Police then checked the vehicle and seized three more bottles of liquor from the car boot. In the meantime, police have arrested an Indian expatiate for trafficking in alcohol and recovered 43 bottles of local brew from his possession in Hasawi area, reports Annahar daily.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted that he brewed liquor in his flat and sold it at cafes. He reportedly charged KD 6 per bottle. A GCC national was arrested in possession of 15 bottles of local alcohol in Fintas area, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. He has been referred to the Directorate-General for Drugs Control.
6 Asians arrested: During a crackdown on illegal residents and violators of residence law police have arrested six Asians, reports Al-Rai daily.
Meanwhile, the Fahaheel police are said to have issued 30 citations to reckless motorists and others for violating traffic laws.
The suspects have been referred to the concerned authorities.
