Pin Kickers edge BAF Holdings, maintain good run Western Union, Behbehani win games

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 8: Two weeks into the second round of the 2012 ACD Winter Tenpin Bowling League being held at the Cozmo Bowling Center in Khaifan, the third ranked Pin Kickers banked on their opening game win to brush aside the pace setting BAF Holdings B.V. keglers in one of the featured 11th week matches. Bonete Plus which is trying to regain the top position they relinquished to BAF Holdings started their bid with a victory over another strong finals berth contender OGBL/Abannte. Winning their respective games during the weekend were Western Union Money Transfer, Behbehani Team and TISOK.
Up against a team which is on a 2-match winning streak and currently the league leader, the Pin Kickers were expecting a tough 3-game series match against the sizzling BAF Holdings keglers. In game one, the Pin Kickers grabbed the upper hand by subduing their opponents via an 8-3 count made possible by the quintet of Kiko Andaya, Jess Tolentino, Neil Basilad, Mina Andaya and Bimbo Palomata. With both teams struggling to beat their respective averages, game two ended in a low scoring 6-5 win for the Pin Kickers. In game three BAF Holdings stepped up their pin busting knowing they need to snatch more points in order to tighten their grip on the number one post. The points however proved hard to earn just like in the previous game. With the needed breaks BAF Holding spearheaded by Noel Aguinaldo, Rudy de Lima, John Caldwell, Janet Shaikh and Roel Butin managed to eke out a 6-5 victory. Unfortunately this did not prevent the Pin Kickers from escaping with a final 19-17 total point win.

Bonete Plus on the other hand were also made to work hard before beating the OGBL/Abannte pin breakers. Out to try to regain the top spot they held for 8 weeks during the first round of the qualifying round, Bonete’s initial try was foiled by the OGBL/Abannte quintet of Mar Evangelista, Gary Bonifacio, Jheng Liwayway, Mousa Abdullah and Shahab Khamaly which drilled in a 7-5 win in game one. Determined to find a way to barge into the win column, Bonete Plus fielded the same lineup in game two where they prevailed via a 7-3 score. Now ahead 12-10 after two games, Bonete Plus bannered in this match by Egay Cabildo, Toto Abear, Bert Pantanilla, Mitch Avila, Eddie Pena and Hermi Saliba dished out another 7-4 win in game three to go home with a total winning tally of 22 points to OGBL/Abannte’s 14. Meanwhile, Western Union Money Transfer submitted the highest team output of the week in its 27-10 demolition of D’ Strikers. Needing to garner more points in their remaining matches in order to catch the front runners, the money transfer experts kicked off their mission with a 10-1 rout of D’ Strikers in game one. Still enjoying a slight edge in game two, Western Union made it two in a row by booking another 8-5 win in game two. To complete their three to nothing sweep of the match, Jane Nance, Ed Mendoza, Bobby Ferrera, Dariel Cartas and Freddie Santos returned for the final game where they emerged with a close 6-4 decision.

Going to the other two matches of the week, Behbehani Team remained glued to fifth place in the standings after their close 22-18 victory over the Pasaway Kidz. To turn back the high charged Pasaway Kidz, Behbehani Team led by Sam Behbehani, Zyrus Javellana, Rose Saliba, Moises Amahan and Edgar Pascua shared the scoring load in stopping the kids in games one and three 8-4 and 7-6. Just like what the supporters were hoping, the youthful keglers was not to be denied their moment as Pasaway Kidz trounced Behbehani Team in game two with Kevin Yap, Karl Andaya, Jessica Lorino, Karl Alinea and Kevin Andaya manning the lanes. Moving on to the only other match of the week, TISOK banked on its higher 3-game total pin falls worth 3 points to beat Fil Bowlers 21.5-18.5. After Sean Fernandes, Sarto Baptista, Riz Roque, Caloy Garay and Fe Ferrer gave TISOK a commanding 15.5-9.5 lead through 6-5-2.5 and 9-7 victories in games one and two, the Fil Bowlers five some of Aqeel Farisy, Tareq Sairat, Norie Sairat, Mandy Manalo and Rita Vidana almost caught up with TISOK with their own 8-3 win in game three.
