Kharafi Blue’s crowned champions IMA Youth Wing Grand Cricket Tournament

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 8: The Grand Cricket Tournament organized by IMA Youth Wing on Feb 3, 2012, at South Khaitan, concluded with Kharafi Blue’s outstanding victory in the final match.
Program commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran by Waleed Umri. IMA President Mohammed Aslam was the chief guest on the occasion. In his short speech, he spoke about the importance of sports and how it is a means to develop peace of mind, brotherhood and respect. He congratulated and wished all the teams Good luck.
In welcome speech, Nisar Ahmed said; In Islam, sports is perceived as an important means to gain a healthy body and mind. Sports like swimming, archery, running and horse riding are especially encouraged in Hadith. He further noted that if the aim is leisure and maintaining good health, then sport is permissible. If it involves acts such as missing prayers, forgetting our responsibilities towards family and having aggressive feelings towards opponent and so on, then it is prohibited in Islam.
The tournament started with the first delivery being bowled by IMA President Mohammed Aslam and batted well by IMA General Secretary Ahmed Ali. The total of 24 teams and a large crowd of cricket enthusiasts participated in the tournament. The matches were played in 6 grounds. Although there was unexpected cold freezing Weather, nevertheless, it did not hinder the sportsman spirit of the Youth.
Some of the finest teams from Kuwait participated in the tournament such as KCC, Arctec, Mubeen XI, Sajid XI and IMA Youthwing.

The final match was played between Konkan Boys and Kharafi Blue’s. After winning the toss, Konkan Boys decided to bat first.
The decision to bat after winning the toss was not so fruitful for the hosts as their batsmen failed to come to terms with some fast and accurate bowling from Kharafi Blue’s. Kharafi Blue’s openers hit finest boundaries and emerged to be victorious in this youth cricket event.
IMA YouthWing President Fahimuddin Shareef presented the man of the match gift vouchers that were Sponsored by ProSports — the exclusive cricket showroom in Kuwait, for all the matches played. The trophies for the runners-up were presented by Mohammed Rashid Baig. Irfan Khan, Financial Manager of GULFMART, the leading chain of super markets in Kuwait and the chief sponsor of the tournament, presented the trophy to the winning captain. All the players of final match were awarded with individual trophies.
