Mother acquitted in kidnap of children
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 5: The Court of Appeals acquitted a mother of kidnapping her two children and completely cutting ties with their grandmother who is entitled to the children’s custody.
Earlier, the Criminal Court sentenced the woman to 3 years imprisonment with hard labor, and also ordered her to pay KD 3,000 in compensation to the grandmother for pain she passed through after the children had allegedly been kidnapped.
The case file indicates that the woman defied court ruling and refused to surrender her two children, as she disappeared with the children and declined to attend court sessions.
Attorney of the defendant Mohammad Al-Otaibi faulted the ruling of First Instant Court, stressing the procedure defiled implementation and interpretation of law, as much as it lacked justice.
