The General Department for Drug Control acting on information set a trap for an unidentified drug trafficker and seized from him 1.5 kilos of heroin and referred him and the drugs to the concerned authorities for further interrogation, says a press release issued by the Ministry of Interior.
According to the press release the department acting on a tip-off got a search and arrest warrant issued by the Public Prosecution and arrested an Asian man in Jabriya while selling 14 grams of heroin to a police agent.
During interrogation he confessed to the charge and pointed a finger of accusation at his accomplice who was later arrested in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh with 1.5 kilos of heroin.

Asian acquitted in liquor case: The Court of Appeals presided over by Justice Osama Mahmoud recently overturned the verdict of the lower court and acquitted an unidentified Asian man of the charge of drinking alcohol and causing nuisance in a public place.
The Public Prosecution officer had testified in court the man was arrested after an anonymous person called to say the man was misbehaving in public.
He also said after the man was taken into custody he admitted to drinking alcohol. The officer also disclosed the man’s blood tested positive for alcohol content.
However, the defense attorney Hamad Al-Hadyan faulted the arrest procedures including the purported confession which he claimed was made under duress.
The attorney also said his client was arrested without proper arrest warrant.
