‘Hala Feb’ festival kicks off with a bang Tabtabaei warns against holding parties
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 4: The Hala February Festival kicked off Saturday with a huge parade along Salem Al-Mubarak Street in Salmiya. A large number of people participated in the parade, including the officials and staff of various embassies and institutions in the country.
In a press statement Saturday, General Coordinator of the festival Waleed Mohammad revealed the committee tasked to organize the event worked round the clock to ensure the success of the parade, which showcased the best Kuwaiti traditions. He affirmed the committee coordinated with the concerned authorities to put the security operatives on high alert for 24 hours so they are ready in case of emergency, in addition to ensuring smooth flow of traffic, public safety and to provide enough parking space for the crowd during the parade. He revealed the sponsors will distribute gifts and prizes worth $1,000,000 throughout the festival.
On the other hand, Chairperson of the Programs and Activities Committee Madina Ismail said the festival includes many folkloric shows, competitions and entertainment activities for the public, as well as mascots for children.
Meanwhile, Dean of Sharia Law Faculty Dr Mohammad Al-Tabtabaei warned against holding parties during the festival as such activities are forbidden by Islam. He claimed parties are organized by people who do not wish Kuwait well.
