‘Hormuz closure will affect Kuwait’ MoI urged to take action against Al-Juwaihel
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 1: The closure of the Strait of Hormuz in case of a military attack on Iran might lead to dire consequences, reports Al-Wasat daily quoting First Constituency candidate Abdullah Al-Roumi.
Expressing concern on the Iranian threats, Al-Roumi pointed out Kuwait may suffer the brunt of such threats because there is no alternative source of income once the export of oil stops. He said Kuwait will definitely be affected if the international community decides to halt Iran’s petroleum exports.
Meanwhile, Al-Anba daily has reported that Sheikh Mohamed bin Shaba’an of the Al-Hawajer tribe has outrightly rejected the offensive statements uttered against the Al-Mutair family in a seminar organized recently by Mohammed Al-Juwaihel in his headquarters. He argued no one has the right to attack any Kuwaiti tribe, sect or family. He called on the entire Kuwaiti nation to coordinate their efforts in serving the interests of their homeland, adding the government must strictly apply the law and take the necessary measures against those who try to destroy the social structure.
Meanwhile, the Islamic parties in the Third Constituency have no qualms in secretly forming alliances with the Liberal groups, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting sources.
Sources revealed the candidates of these parties publicly fight against women and they strongly oppose calls for women to hold leadership posts but do not find a problem in exchanging votes with them. These candidates want women to stay at home; yet they have started wooing female voters, including those who are not wearing veils, sources added.
In another development, fifth constituency candidate Dr Ahmad bin Mut’e has asked the Interior Minister to take necessary action against Mohammed Al-Juwaihel for attacking Al-Mutair tribe to provoke chaos among citizens a day before the country’s parliamentary elections, reports Al-Anba daily.
In a press release, Dr Mut’e noted the Interior Ministry is responsible for security and must confront any person who tries to destroy democracy and stability in the country.
