Police seize 100 bottles of liquor from Asian motorist Experts find 48 rounds of explosives packed in 26 boxes
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 1: Police have arrested an unidentified Asian man for trading in locally-manufactured booze, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily quoting security sources said the man was arrested by a police patrol while on routine duty in Mina Abdullah.
The security sources said the man was ordered to pull over and subjected for inspection because he was driving suspiciously in the camps area.
Police have reportedly seized 100 bottles of liquor from the car.
Meanwhile, police are looking for an unidentified person for trading in imported liquor, reports Al-Rai daily.
A police source said the suspect was driving an American-made car and allegedly escaped on foot leaving the car behind after colliding with another vehicle. The same source said the accident took place in a desert of Mina Abdullah. Police have reportedly recovered 200 bottles of whisky from the car.
Copper cables thieves sought: Police are looking for an unidentified person for stealing copper cables from an electrical transformer located in the suburb of Jaber Al-Ahmad residential area, reports Al-Rai daily.
This was disclosed by the supervisor from the Ministry of Electricity and Water who said while checking the transformers he found no cables inside one of them.
A complaint has been filed at the Sulaibikhat Police Station.
Explosives found: Explosives experts are said to have found 48 rounds of explosives which were neatly packed inside 26 boxes in addition to a rocket propelled grenade (RPG) in the vicinity of the Sabah Al-Salem University — specifically near the land allocated to the faculties of Arts and Education, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to a contractor of the project the ordnance was found by workers while digging in the area.
The explosives are believed to be remnant of ordnance left behind the defeated Iraqi army in 1991.
