Maid delivers, lover flees

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 31: An Asian housemaid surrendered herself to Salmiya police after giving birth to a baby in her flat, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The maid had escaped from her sponsor’s house and was living with a man who impregnated her but ran away to his home country when she was about to give birth.
The woman felt she was in great trouble and decided to hand herself over to police.

Arab expat swindled: An Arab expatriate has lodged a complaint at South Surra Police Station, accusing a Kuwaiti man of swindling him, reports Al-Rai daily.
The complainant said the Kuwaiti offered to help him in renting a butchery shop in a cooperative society and convinced him that it was a profitable project.
The victim handed over KD 300 to the swindler and promised to pay the rest of the money after the signing of the contract which was to take place after two days. The swindler, however, switched off his cell phone after taking the money.

Candidate ‘robbed’: A Third Constituency candidate was reportedly swindled by his campaign agent, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The swindler was paid KD 550,000 for organizing seminars and other campaign activities, but he allegedly did nothing of that sort.

Caretaker arrested: Police have arrested a caretaker of buildings owned by a Kuwaiti man in a trust betrayal case and referred him to the Public Prosecution, reports Al-Rai daily.
The Kuwaiti lodged a complaint at Salmiya Police Station, saying the caretaker collected rents from his buildings in Salmiya and Hawalli and pocketed rents worth KD 30,000.
The caretaker admitted to transferring money to his account in his country and justified the act, saying he was facing financial problems and had requested his sponsor to give him a loan but the latter refused.
