Govt hints citizenship on Feb 25 - Some bedouns to benefit
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 30: The government has asked the Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Interior Minister Sheikh Ahmed Al-Hmoud to revise the files of bedoun who deserve to be naturalized particularly people who are affiliated to the ministries under his care so that the same can be forwarded to the Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR) for these names to be officially declared during the national holidays in February, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting reliable sources.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet has decided during a meeting chaired by HH Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak to look into the draft law of Public Authority for Integrity concerning financial accounts and tackling contradictory issues.
It was also decided that the Cabinet will look into the increase of salaries of Kuwaitis working in the government sector and private establishments after the National Assembly elections.
The daily added the Civil Service Commission has already prepared a draft law in this regard.
In a similar development, the Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR) has called upon Bedouns included in the 1965 census, as well as active military personnel who participated in the Arab and Liberation wars to conclude their files immediately, reports Al-Moustaqbal daily.
The daily quoting reliable sources confirmed the government is serious about ending the suffering of this category of society.
Meanwhile, head of CSRSIR Saleh Al-Fadhalah is keen on resolving the Bedoun file that has persisted for many years without lasting solution, sources added, indicating the committee will naturalize those who deserve citizenship and approve their civil rights.
