Indian singer dies in Kuwait road mishap Embassy mourns Deepali’s loss

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 28: Renowned Indian singer Deepali Joshi was killed in a road accident Friday while on the way to her hotel from Kuwait International Airport near the Sixth Ring Road.

The renowned singer arrived in Kuwait for a show on Saturday organized by Al Mulla Exchange Company in cooperation with the Indian Embassy to commemorate the 63rd Republic Day of India.

She was travelling in the fateful car with her musician, Ishan, who is now in a critical condition in the ICU at Farwaniya Hospital, and her manager, who suffered minor injuries.

Sources said that Deepali was brought dead to the hospital. Saturday’s concert, which was planned to be held in the Indian Embassy, has been cancelled as a mark of respect for the late singer.

Deepali hails from a small town of Dharwad, near border of Maharashtra. She speaks Kannada and Marathi fluently. She is survived by her husband, Paresh Shah, sister and brother.
