Allegations against former PM were mere fabrications: report

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 24: A team from the Foreign Affairs Ministry has prepared complete report on allegations raised by former MP Musallam Al-Barrak against former Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah regarding suspicious transfer of funds to some Kuwaiti missions abroad through the ministry.

The subject became a major issue of concern before dissolution of the National Assembly and resignation of the Cabinet, reports Al-Shahid daily.

The daily quoting a reliable source said the team has proved beyond doubt that the allegation was a mere ruse. He noted the parliament had prioritized the issue in the grilling of Sheikh Nasser.

He also said the team prepared the report- alongside legal and auditing teams, after painstaking review, and so claims of the former lawmakers are wrong and unsubstantiated.

He stressed that the ministry wanted to be rest assured of information at hand, in case the issue resurfaces in future. He reaffirms there is nothing like ‘suspicious transfer or violations’ as being peddled around.

He reiterated the accounting was upright, and regulations were followed in the transfer process, so there is no cause for investigation.

In the meantime, the ministry will present the report to the incoming National Assembly once a fact-finding committee has been formed for that purpose, the source said.
