Top Municipality officials in millions dinar bribes
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 22: Senior officials in Kuwait Municipality allegedly accepted bribes worth millions of dinars to stop the valuation of a property owned by the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) and forged papers to change the ownership to a trader, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
An inside source said KIA sent a letter to the Director General of Kuwait Municipality Ahmed Al-Subaih, threatening to resort to court because the move caused great losses to the authority and State treasury. KIA said it has legal papers to prove the ownership of the property.
Wanted Kuwaiti held: Security-men have arrested a Kuwaiti youth wanted by law for possessing an unlicensed weapon and for his involvement in several other felonies, reports Al-Shahed daily.
A police patrol on routine duty noticed a car bearing the number plate of a GGC state parked in a suspicious manner by a roadside and approached it. On seeing this, the motorist sped up and after a while, stopped the vehicle and ran on foot. The officer, however, chased and arrested the youth.
Two fingers of hashish were also seized from the youth’s car.
