Lovers held in car Over 700 capsules of heroin seized
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 21: A Kuwaiti citizen was charred to death and his friend sustained serious burns when fire gutted their tent in Kabad area, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The remains of the victim have been referred to Forensics, while the friend was rushed to hospital.
Investigations are underway to identify the cause of the fire.
Over 700 capsules of heroin seized: Anti-narcotics men, in coordination with Customs Investigation Bureau intercepted a trucker with a quantity of heroin in his possession.
The Asian trucker was on his way to Kuwait from one Gulf country when his truck was intercepted upon information the Drug Control General Department received in that regard.
The officers had found 702 capsules valued at KD 200,000, as they conducted a search inside the truck, and the suspect confessed the contraband was to be sold in Kuwait.
According to security operatives, the consignment is considered the largest quantity of narcotics impounded so far in 2012.
Meanwhile, Acting Deputy Secretary for Criminal Security Affairs, Major General Sheikh Ahmad Al-Khalifa Al-Sabah, has since directed the Acting Director General of Anti-Drug General Department Brigadier Saleh Al-Ghanim to expedite arrest of those behind the smuggling. The suspect with the items has been referred to Public Prosecution.
Lovers held in car: Police have arrested a youth and an Arab woman for indulging in an immoral act inside a 4-wheel-drive vehicle behind a residential complex in Salmiya, reports Al-Rai daily.
On checking records, police found out that the woman was wanted by law for threatening to kill her ex-husband and misusing her phone.
Both the lovers were referred to authorities.
Cop-attackers caught: Police have arrested two Bedouns who earlier attacked three securitymen in Salmi while the latter were arresting a thief suspected of stealing all terrain vehicles (ATV), locally known as buggies, from houses in Sulaibikhat and Doha, reports Al-Rai daily.
Police intensified their efforts after receiving many complaints and arrested a suspect. During the process, however, four of his friends attacked securitymen with knives in an attempt to free their friend and escaped.
Police elicited information from the suspect about his partners and based on it, they were able to arrest two of them, while the search for the other two continues.
The thieves admitted to stealing 30 buggies and using them in robberies. They also led police to the place where the stolen buggies were kept.
