CSRSIR set to ‘submit’ list of Bedouns to Cabinet in batches ‘Files of eligible stateless persons checked’
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 21: The Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Resident in Kuwait (CSRSIR) as of next February will submit in batches the list to the Council of Ministers of Bedouns who are eligible for Kuwaiti citizenship, reports Alam Alyawm daily quoting reliable sources.
The same sources said the first two lists which are expected to be submitted in two batches in February and March this year will include names of the sons of Kuwaiti widows and divorced women married to non-Kuwaiti men. Their number is expected to be 900.
The sources said the third batch will include personnel from the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Interior, and persons who have participated in wars. These lists are expected to be submitted next April and May.
The sources added the files of persons who are expected to be naturalized have been checked by the State Security Department and the Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents and the General Criminal Evidences Department.
Meanwhile, the head of the Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents in Kuwait (CSRSIR) Saleh Al-Fadhalah was recently quoted as saying the committee is working hard to put an end to the issue of Bedouns, Alam Alyawm quoting reliable sources said recently.
This comes contrary to reports which had earlier been published by Arabic daily that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Al-Hmoud was appointed chairman of CSRSIR.
Saleh Al-Fadhalah has been chairman of the CSRSIR since 2010.
In the meantime, Jassem Al-Manih, who is contesting the National Assembly elections from the Second Constituency was quoted as saying if he is elected to the Parliament he will divide the Bedoun issue in two parts and ensure that everyone gets his rights, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Speaking at a seminar held at his Diwaniya in Shuwaikh, he said the people of the disabled category has also been marginalized, “if elected I will give priority to this issue.”
He has also said Kuwait lags behind in the field of education, health, sports and even tourism.
As an example he pointed out the last hospital in Kuwait was built in 1985.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Communications has denied allegations made through the social networking sites ‘Twitter’ and ‘Facebook’ that the ministry plans to tap the landline telephones in Sulaibiya and Taima upon recommendations of senior officials in the Ministry of Interior to identify persons who incite Bedouns to demonstrate, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
However, the Communications Ministry has denied receiving any such request from the Ministry of Interior.
