Hawalli police arrest motorist in possession of two-kg heroin Prosecution extends detention of 62 protesting bedouns

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 20: The Hawalli police have arrested an unidentified person for possessing two kilos of heroin.
According to security sources the man was arrested at a late hour. The suspect was speeding and the police patrol ordered the man to pullover.
While checking the man’s documents, police saw a bag on the passenger seat and when he was asked to open it, police found the drugs.
He has been handed over to the General Department for Drug Control.
Meanwhile, the Hawalli police have arrested an unidentified Kuwaiti youth in his 20s for consuming drugs and possessing heroin.
Security sources said patrolmen while on routine duty on the Arabian Gulf Street saw some movement in a car in a parking lot at a late hour.
When they approached the car they saw the suspect. He looked drowsy and when police demanded to see his ID, they discovered he was under the influence of drugs.
Police then searched his car and found a quantity of heroin.
He has been handed over to the General Department for Drugs Control.
Also, four Kuwaitis have been arrested and referred to the General Department for Drug Control for consuming alcohol.
The men were arrested by the Hawalli police while driving along a road in Salmiya.

Asian woman mugged: Police are looking for three unidentified youths riding on motorbikes for beating an unidentified Asian woman and stealing her cell phone and KD 110.
In her complaint the 30-year-old woman told the Salmiya police the suspects threatened her before robbing her.

Woman falls from 3rd floor: A 30-year-old expatriate woman who allegedly fell from the third floor of her sponsor’s apartment has been admitted to the Farwaniya Hospital.
The incident happened in Rawda. She was taken to the hospital by paramedics. A medical report shows she is suffering from fractures.
The cause of the fall is not known.

Car catches fire at fuel station: Workers at a petrol station in Al-Rai recently managed to put out fire to a Japanese car which caught fire inside the petrol station.
According to fire sources when firemen reached the petrol station the station manager said the car caught fire when the driver was filling petrol.
However, the employees at the station brought the fire under control within a short time. No casualties have been reported.

Saudi held for drugs: Police have arrested a Saudi man in possession of a hashish-rolled cigarette and three narcotic pills in Sulaibiya, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.                 
The man was referred to the Directorate-General for Drugs Control (DGDC).

Kuwait Interpol nab Egyptian: Kuwait Interpol on Thursday handed over a wanted Egyptian, who was convicted in 15 cases, to its Egyptian counterpart, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to a security source, the suspect is 38 years old and is identified only as H.A.M. He is facing several charges, including breach of trust.

Asian held for alcohol use: Police have arrested an Asian man for consuming alcohol. He was taken into custody from a suburb of Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, reports Al-Rai daily.
Acting on information police rushed to the spot and caught the man red-handed. When police arrived the man was reportedly dancing.

Residence violator arrested: Police have arrested a 26-year-old Pakistani man for violating the residence law in Hawalli area, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The man was referred to authorities for further action.

Asian attempts suicide: An Asian expatriate tried to kill himself by consuming a large quantity of chemicals, reports Al-Anba daily.
The man was rushed to Farwaniya Hospital and he is said to be in a critical condition. Sources said the Asian consumed a chemical that is used in painting cars.

Police nab 2 wanted youths: Poli-ce have arrested two youths for performing stunts with their cars, reports Al-Rai daily.
On checking records, police realized that one of the youths was wanted by law for molesting a child and the other was wanted in another criminal case.
Police had initially put the youths under surveillance after receiving complaints that they were organizing illegal car races during weekends and were endangering other road users’ lives.

Car owner reported dead: After intense investigations, police have found that the owner of the car which was parked near a government building for several weeks and raised suspicions had died of a sudden heart attack, reports Al-Rai daily.
A source said police have found that the man suffered a heart attack shortly after parking his car near the government building and died. The car remained at the site for several weeks, raising suspicions.
The car has been towed to the garage of the traffic department and the man’s family has been asked to come and collect it.

Man injured in fight:
An unidentified man suffered injuries in different parts of his body after engaging in a fistfight with another man in Fintas.
The injured filed a complaint at a nearby police station and presented a medical certificate to the officers to substantiate his claim.  Investigations in this regard are ongoing.
