An unidentified Asian man stands in the midst of huge quantity of foreign liquor seized.
8,543 bottles seized from Asian held in buy-bust op Cost of liquor estimated to be KD 0.5 mln

 KUWAIT CITY, Jan 15: Officials of the Directorate-General for Drug Control arrested an Asian expatriate for trafficking in alcohol and recovered 8,543 bottles of imported liquor worth half million dinars from his possession, states the Interior Ministry.
In a press release, the ministry said the directorate formed a team to monitor the Asian’s movements after receiving a tip off that he smuggled a large quantity of liquor into the country. The team eventually persuaded the Asian to sell 20 cartons of imported liquor and arrested him in a buy-bust operation.
Officials then raided a store the Asian was maintaining in Sabhan area and seized 8,400 bottles of liquor. The Asian was referred to authorities along with the contraband.

Kidnap attempted: A Kuwaiti man was arrested for beating a compatriot boy and trying to kidnap him, reports Al-Rai daily.
The arrest came after the boy’s father filed a complaint at Rumaithiya Police Station. The suspect, however, denies the charges.

‘Dont stay out late’: A Kuwaiti girl filed a complaint against her brother who allegedly insulted and beat her, reports Al-Rai daily.  
Police summoned the brother for interrogation and he said he beat the girl for staying out of the house until late which is against their traditions. The issue was settled amicably.

Bedouns held: Police arrested two Bedouns for stealing the belongings of a muezzin from a mosque in Hawalli area, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The suspects reportedly waited for the muezzin to leave his room to make the call for prayer, broke into his room and stole his mobile phone and wallet.
Some passers-by, who witnessed the incident, chased the suspects and overpowered them. Both of them were referred to Nugra Police Station. One of the suspects is said to be have been sentenced to two months’ imprisonment in absentia in an assault case.
