6-month stay

My 17-year-old daughter is studying in India and has a valid Kuwait residence visa No 22. Her residence is expiring at the end of October 2012. She completes her 6-month stay outside Kuwait in October. She is planning to come to Kuwait in September before she completes her 6-month stay out of Kuwait. My question is whether we can renew her residence in June when she visits Kuwait, 5 months prior to expiry of her residence in October 2012.

Answer: Currently the Immigration Department issued a decision saying they would not renew anyone’s residence which is still valid for over 3 months. So, until that decision is cancelled your daughter’s residence can’t be renewed.

Secondly she can’t stay out of the country for over 6 months or her residence will be cancelled. She can get an exemption if she is studying in a university in a third country.

I plan to go on vacation at the beginning of September and return to Kuwait in mid-November 2012.
My residence and Civil ID will expire on Oct 24, 2012.
I understand residence visas are extended only one month prior to the expiry of the existing visas.
What procedure should I follow to have my residence renewed.

Answer: The residence can be renewed as long as 3 months before the expiry of the residence but not before that so you should not have any problem.
