Do not exchange New Year greetings with Christians KHRS condemns TV announcements against New Year greetings
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 27: The Kuwait Human Rights Society (KHRS) has severely condemned TV announcements which urge people not to exchange New Year greetings with Christians. The society said such wrong practices spread hatred among people and violate the human rights approved in the Constitution.
In a press statement, the society said Article 29 of the Constitution states that all people are equal in terms of dignity, rights and public duties. Also, there would be no discrimination on basis of gender, language or religion.
Moreover, it said, Article 35 states that the country grants the freedom of performing religious rites. “Hence, those behind the announcements should immediately stop this malpractice,” it added.
KHRS called on the Information Ministry to control irresponsible behavior which spreads tension and hatred among citizens and said Kuwait should remain a country of safety, tolerance and security for all citizens and residents.
