3-man gang held for stealing, selling tents at ‘cheap’ rates Tons of rotten foodstuff seized at Shuwaikh shops
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 26: The Ahmadi police have arrested a three-man gang who specialized in stealing tents and selling them in the market at a throwaway price, reports Al-Rai daily.
The arrest came when an unidentified Kuwaiti man saw his stolen tent for sale inside the tent market and he informed the police.
The daily added the police got the information from the salesman (the details of the car and the number plate) of the person who had sold him the tent.
When police checked the car it was registered in the name of a Kuwaiti and he admitted that the car is being used by his son.
When police confronted the son, he initially denied the allegation, but later admitted to stealing the tent and gave police information about his accomplices.
The suspects have been handed over to the concerned authorities.
Rotten food seized: Personnel from the Imported Foods Department affiliated to Kuwait Municipality in cooperation with officers from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry have seized more than three tons of expired foodstuffs from shops in Shuwaikh, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The same teams have also caught red-handed some workers who were tampering with ‘production’ and ‘expiry’ dates of the foodstuffs.
The head of the Municipality’s inspection team said the raid was conducted after the department received a tip-off from unidentified sources that some shops in the area were selling expired foodstuffs.
A case of commercial cheating has been filed against the suspects.
