Visa transfer after 2 years & Graduation degree neccessary for Commercial Visit Visa
I am a physiotherapist, came to Kuwait in June 2010 on Article 14 visa. Found an employer, then exited to UAE and came back with a commercial visa. Eventually transferred to Article 18 visa (work permit) which will expire this year. I was asked to pay KD 200 for my visa but I paid my sponsor KD 50 monthly as arranged as salary deduction. Started my work in August and signed a 2-year-contract.
If I happen to find another sponsor, do I have the right to request for a release after 1-year of working for them? Am I eligible to transfer my visa according to the law?

Answer: No, you are not eligible for a release nor can you transfer because your transfer was not local and those changing from a commercial visa to work permit are considered foreign hires.
I am in the country on a commercial visit visa and plan to transfer to a local company. But the company is facing a problem doing so. I am not a graduate. What could be the reason for the delay?

Answer: You have pointed out the problem yourself — you are not a graduate. Earlier there were no conditions tied to such transfers but now all those on commercial visit visas have to be graduates if they wish to change their visas to work permits. So it is unlikely your transfer will be approved.
