Filipina & Kuwaiti Women selling second-hand revenue stamps Ex-MP violates law to promote poll campaign
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 20: An unidentified employee of the Hawalli Immigration Department has been referred to the concerned authorities in what is known in department circles as ‘revenue stamp scam’, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily quoting security sources said the scam was discovered by another female employee when she suspected a revenue stamp affixed on one of the transactions. The stamps had been tampered with to remove the original seal.
When the woman asked the person who submitted the transaction the source of the stamp the person replied he bought it from a Filipina who was standing near the stamp vending machine.
When the Filipina was detained for interrogation she said she was selling the stamps on behalf of a Kuwaiti woman and gave details of the person.
Police then raided the home of the suspect and caught her red-handed in possession of the stamps.
The stamps and the suspects have been referred to the concerned authorities.
Law breached: A former MP has allegedly pressured the Ministry of Health (MoH) to grant indefinite leave to a female employee who works in the Farwaniya Hospital so that she can take charge of his election campaigning tasks and woo female voters in the area, reports Al-Shahed daily.
Sources say the former lawmaker allocated a budget of KD 15,000 to buy gifts for women in the area and added that the budget will be increased if the female employee asks for it.
The female employee reportedly has good relations with women in the area due to her job in the hospital and also because of the services she renders to them.
Cleric swindled: A well known Islamic cleric Nabeel Al-Awadhi has filed a complaint at Shuhada Police Station, accusing two Kuwaiti men of swindling him to the tune of KD 90,000, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The duo allegedly persuaded him to invest in a dubious commercial project. Police will summon the suspects for interrogation.
