Consumers robbed by cheat pharmacists

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 17: A Kuwaiti man has called on authorities to strictly monitor the prices of medicines, saying he bought two packets of tablets containing two pills each at different pharmacy stores that were few meters apart in Jahra for KD 6.020 and KD 3.400 respectively, reports Al-Rai daily.
Stating that there was a KD 2.800 difference in the prices of the same tablets, the complainant said he only wanted to expose dealers who have been cheating unsuspecting customers. He said many citizens might have become victims of the unjustified price hike and that there is an urgent need to put an end to it. The Kuwaiti added that such actions burden people with limited income and spoil the country’s image.

Shooting stirs panic: The relatives of a child, who returned home after successful overseas medical treatment, instilled fear and panic among residents of Sabahiya and some parts of Riqqa when they celebrated his return with expensive fireworks that sounded like real missiles and bombs, reports Al-Anba daily.
Several residents of the area placed distress calls to rescue operatives at the Operations Room (112), saying they can hear strange noises which sound like bomb explosions. The officers rushed to the place, only to find the relatives of the child in a celebratory mood. They were using expensive fireworks of ‘Obama’ and ‘Bin Laden’ brands. The relatives apologized to security operatives and said they wouldn’t have embarked on such an action had they any idea of the nuisance it caused to the residents.

Journalist assaulted: A Kuwaiti man was arrested for physically assaulting a journalist on the Fourth Ring Road, reports Al-Rai daily.
The journalist was on his way to work when his car collided with that of the well-built Kuwaiti. The latter then reportedly alighted from his car, vandalized the windscreen of the victim’s car and physically attacked the journalist in front of a large number of onlookers who refused to intervene.
Rescue officers later rushed the victim to hospital for treatment.
