‘Unqualified workers spoil image’ - Maid offices blamed

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 17: The Director of Domestic Workers Department, Brigadier Abdullah Al-Ali, blames the domestic recruitment agencies for bringing in unqualified workers who do not fulfill the specifications of citizens, reports Al-Shahed daily.
Al-Ali noted such domestic workers eventually run away from their sponsors to perpetrate criminal acts that harm Kuwait’s image. He stressed that the problem of domestic workers would not be resolved unless a state institution takes up the responsibility to recruit workers according to stipulated conditions. This will also help in curbing human trafficking. However, he refuted the possibility of hiring domestic workers from the Arab countries.

Swindler nabbed: Officials of the Hawalli Criminal Investigations Department arrested a GCC national who had swindled unsuspecting Kuwaitis and expatriates to the tune of KD 13,000, reports Al-Rai daily.
The suspect, who works as a mandoub (representative) for a private company, promised his victims to use his connections to bribe officials and get their transactions processed.
Officials had launched a manhunt after 12 cases were registered against the GCC national within a month. After his arrest, the suspect jokingly said his victims were stupid and that he just carried out the assignments given to him for which the victims were even indebted to him.
