Ashour calls on Amiri Diwan advisors to quit Mulaifi denies remarks on ‘dissolution’

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 17: Former MP Saleh Ashour has called for the resignation of the Amiri Diwan advisors and the government “in respect of the mentality of the people of Kuwait,” reports Al-Rai daily.
Ashour made the statement while receiving well-wishers after his release from prison recently. He also criticized the dissolution decree proposed by the advisors, accusing them of pushing the country towards a dark tunnel. He believes there is no other way to resolve the crisis but to follow constitutional channels and sound legal procedures to reach stability. He added there might be appeals against the official call for fresh elections.

Meanwhile, a number of teachers were surprised at the way the former MPs were selected for a ceremony organized recently by the Kuwait Teachers Association to celebrate the approval of the new pay scale, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources.

The teachers expressed their objections after discovering that only former MP Jamaan Al-Harbash was invited to the celebration, leaving out other former lawmakers, who also played a crucial role in the approval of the proposed pay raise, such as Dr Waleed Al-Tabtabaei, Falah Al-Sawagh, Dr Faisal Al-Muslim and Mohammad Hayef.

In the meantime, Kuwaiti Minister of Justice Ahmad Al-Mulaifi dismissed Saturday recent reports claiming that he had made some statements on the dissolution of the National Assembly (parliament).
The minister, who also doubles as minister of education and higher education, said in a news release that he had not made any remarks to any newspaper or mass media over this topic.

Some local newspapers had quoted Al-Mulaifi as allegedly terming the parliament dissolution as “constitutional”.

On the ongoing strike of some workers at the Ministry of Justice, the minister urged them to break the strike and to put public and national interests into consideration.

Blasting the two-month strike as “unacceptable”, he said the law will be applied on everyone.
Meanwhile, Former MP Mubarak Al-Khurainej has vehemently denied reports published Thursday that the Public Prosecution summoned him for questioning on the multimillion deposit scam, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In a press statement, Al-Khurainej asked whoever can prove his involvement in the scam to come out and present evidence; otherwise, he will be considered a traitor to the country and his conscience.
In the meantime, Many municipal council members are looking forward to a decree to dissolve the council since their regular sessions have been suspended, reports Al-Shahid daily.

Sources were quoted as saying some members are busy filing nominations to run in the coming national assembly election and others have declined to attend the meetings without any tangible reasons.
