Police bust ‘copper’ thieves gang Pakistani mugged, KD 150 stolen
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 16: The Jahra police have arrested a four-man gang — two Kuwaitis and two Bedoun — for stealing copper cables from government projects, reports Al-Shahed daily.
Security sources said the arrest came after several complaints were filed about the theft of the cables.
Following investigations which lasted for more than a month, the team which had been formed to nab the culprits finally succeeded in identifying the suspects and caught three men in the act.
During interrogation they admitted to committing the crime and gave police the name of the fourth person who helped them to sell the stolen property.
Meanwhile, police are looking for unidentified persons who allegedly broke into the home of a Kuwaiti man in Al-Qairawan and stole copper cables and water pipes, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
According to a security source, the house owner told the Qairawan Police Station when he returned home with his family he discovered the theft of the copper cables and water pipes.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to arrest the thieves.
Pakistani’s KD 150 stolen: A Pakistani man has filed a complaint with the Sabah Al-Salem Police Station accusing six unidentified persons of beating him and stealing his wallet containing KD 150 and his cell phone, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
In his complaint to the police the man said the suspects beat him and tied his feet and hands behind his back and escaped.
He also told police the incident happened when he went to visit his brother near the Al-Sabah Market in Fahaheel.
Afghan, Indian held: The supervisor of Firdous Municipal Center, Mohammed Zayed Al-Mitraqa has referred two men — Afghan and an Indian. They were caught idling in Block 8 in the area with the intention of allegedly stealing valuables from homes, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the Afghan was in the company of another man and when the Municipality personnel arrested the Afghan, the other man, whose identity is not known, managed to escape.
The suspects were riding on a motorbike collecting whatever they can to sell at the Amghara Scrapyard. The men were also reportedly carrying out sanitary works without licence.
The Indian was caught driving near the ministries building. He was reportedly selling merchandise to women. Both men have been referred to the Firdous Police Station for interrogation.
