What else your Highness? … We are fed up ‘Some’ blinded by thirst for power
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 15: Your Highness, masks have fallen from the faces of those claiming to be the most noble and honorable. Their false pretenses and barbaric claims of heroism have been exposed. The light of truth has shown that they are power greedy people and crazy seekers of authority.
They destroyed the nation and sang songs of glory for feats which exist only in their imagination. They have caused panic throughout the land and drove the State towards unconstitutional processes. They have taken turns in hacking the structure of the State, thinking the act was imperative. These people will never change. They have only one agenda — to ‘plant’ their followers in various State institutions, especially the sensitive posts, to ensure the implementation of their instructions. They took a similar step when they incited chaos and stirred emotions by making the public believe that corruption and bribery are tolerated in the country. They created an impression that the State has not done anything, and they are the only people concerned about national welfare — the most honest and have not engaged in any fraudulent activity.
Your Highness, they destroyed the country when they fabricated the multimillion deposit story, which they continued to promote until the people believed it is real. Former MPs Saleh Ashour, Hussain Al-Huraiti and several others have become victims of this false story. They were not saved even if most Kuwaitis are aware of their clean records. Even their popularity could not save them from the strange and meaningless practices of certain people. However, it all turned out to be a botched attempt to assassinate them politically and to depict them as the bribe-takers and givers.
Ashour has been summoned for interrogation even if he announced that his deposits totaled KD 200,000; not millions as claimed by the troublemakers. This happened despite the fact that his deposits are legal and cannot be considered money laundering. We all know that proving money laundering allegations is a difficult and tedious task which requires clear proof.
These people have tarnished the reputation of the legislative authority through the empty and baseless deposit claims, forgetting that they themselves erred when they exploited some free hands and led them to the Erada Square. Not content with this destructive act, they went as far as storming the National Assembly building and spreading chaos all over the country. As Kuwaitis, have we benefited from this chaotic path? Actually, it has done nothing but jeopardize the democratic practices in our country. A majority of the former lawmakers have either appeared before the Public Prosecution or on their way to it, facing charges related to the deposit scandal and the Parliament building break-in.
What else Your Highness? A lot of loyal men who do not want their name to be dragged into the mud and humiliated have stayed away from the political terrain. They have done this while their hearts continue to burn with love for the country.
What else Your Highness? You have done everything to make them take the right path but they have responded to this tolerance by wailing and crying, as if they have been plunged into hell. They cried as they have always done over the years, clamoring for the ouster of former Prime Minister HH Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. He eventually stepped down out of compassion for the people, not to dodge his responsibility, because he saw the wind of chaos blowing fiercely even within the ruling family. Sheikh Nasser resigned when he saw how the clone of the Pharaoh poisoned the atmosphere of freedom in Kuwait, spread chaos and distorted the image of a noble man.
What else Your Highness? The National Assembly speaker has bowed down to pressure from the whirlwind. He decided to abandon his post despite being the strong pillar through which the legislative institution thrived for long until the whirlwind began to blow, endangering the ship of Noah and all those on board. He decided to go with his dignity untarnished. He did this because he saw the ship of democracy, stability and development heading towards a dangerous direction.
What else Your Highness? The dissolution of the legislature was one of the huge demands of the troublemakers. They wanted destruction and they found the path that leads to it, but now they sit crying over spilt milk, raising doubts on the constitutionality of the dissolution. The thirst for power has blinded them, gripped their hearts and bloated their egos. They claim to be the sole savior of the future, leaders of history, real soldiers and defenders of the nation.
What else Your Highness? We have been living in a constitutional vacuum for some days, while the constitutionality of the appointment of the new prime minister, dissolution of Assembly and formation of the new government remain to be hot topics in daily discussions. In spite of living in a constitutional vacuum where we poured out our emotions, we still believe that every cloud has a silver lining.
Thousands of facts have been revealed to the people due to certain practices and actions that led us to the current situation. We have realized that some of us want the country to remain in chaos and unrest. Nevertheless, the horse rider should now see what the people see, discern their desires, realize their dreams and guarantee a bright future for the next generation. Kuwaitis are fed up; fed up of chaos, aggression on the executive authority and attempts to dominate the judicial authority. We saw the frivolous acts of troublemakers when they gathered in front of the Justice Palace to put pressure on the judiciary.
What else Your Highness? We implore you to conduct a survey so you can see that the voice of the troublesome minority, no matter how loud it is, is not on the right path. It is a deceptive voice which wishes nothing good for this country. It is not the voice of Kuwait and its noble people.
Your Highness, our regional neighbors, whether the minority that benefits from this chaos or the majority that feels our pain and worries about our incessant crises, may have paved the way for some of the incidents we witnessed recently, considering we were once the ‘minaret’ of democracy, development, arts, literature and culture.
Your Highness, history is about to repeat itself. It will then be beneficial if we call to mind the incidents during the era of Haroun Al-Rashid, especially what the ‘Baramakites’ did with their might and power. We should understand why they instigated crises and spread evil during this period in history. Let us take a clue from history and see what Al-Rashid did to this destructive lineage; how he protected his country from destruction and chaos; how he contained the emotions of his people during those days and allowed them to live under the principle that ‘religion is for God and the State is for everyone.’ He was completely in charge and served as the protector of the State from friction, tension and division, because he did what his people wanted and desired. We need a new strategy to confront the ‘Baramakites’ amongst us. This will put an end to the legend of the troublemakers keen on doing everything to destroy the country. It will serve as a deterrent to others.
Your Highness what’s next? People are enraged because they saw the destruction caused by the power greedy who behave according to the principle, ‘the end justifies the means’, even if their mission is forbidden and their means is sinful. Nothing matters to them but their goal, which they have to achieve even if it entails ‘slaughtering’ those who they used to describe as wise, tolerant, compassionate and pro-reform.
What else Your Highness? I swear to God we are fed up!
