KUWAIT CITY, Dec 8: An unidentified man was arrested recently for consuming and trading in drugs with opium and other kinds of narcotics in his possession.
Acting on a tip-off, the Drug Control General Department (DCGD) formed a team tasked to put the suspect under surveillance. After verifying the information, the team obtained a search and arrest warrant from the Public Prosecution. They then raided the suspect’s house in Daiya, resulting in the discovery of an undisclosed quantity of opium. The officers also searched his vehicle and they found one kilo of opium under the driver’s seat.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted the crime and told police he hid more drugs in a heavy vehicle, so the officers searched the vehicle where they found one kilo of opium and half kilo of another type of drugs. The suspect was referred to the Public Prosecution for the necessary legal action.
Syrian stabbed: A Syrian expatriate suffered stab injuries in the back, while two Kuwaitis, aged 17 and 24, suffered fractures in their legs during a fight they had in south Jahra area.
A fight broke out between three Kuwaitis and the Syrian over an aggressive stare the parties exchanged on the road. The Kuwaitis allegedly stabbed the Syrian and the latter ran over his vehicle on two Kuwaitis, both of whom suffered fractures.
The Syrian and the injured Kuwaitis were referred to Jahra Hospital for treatment. A case was registered and investigations are going on.
Delivery in embassy: An Ethiopian housemaid gave birth to a child out of wedlock within her country’s embassy premises in Jabriya. Paramedics, acting on information, rushed to the place and referred the woman and her child to Mubarak Hospital. The newborn is reportedly not in a stable condition.
Tit-for-tat car burning: Two Bedouns reportedly went to their friend’s house in Sulaibiya and torched the latter’s vehicle following a disagreement among them.
The owner of the vehicle told his father, who in turn, went to one of the Bedouns’ house and torched the latter’s vehicle in retaliation. A case was registered.
Camp thieves held: Police have arrested two youths on suspicion that they steal from camps. Patrols on routine duty had noticed camping items in the suspects’ vehicle and asked them to stop. But the youths sped up, forcing patrols to give them a chase. The youths have been referred to authorities.
