MPA to regulate ties of employee-employer Rights protected

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 5: A new mechanism will be implemented after the cancellation of the sponsorship system and establishment of the Man-power Public Authority in April 2012 to regulate employee-employer relations, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Undersecretary Mohammad Al-Kandari.

Al-Kandari explained the stipulations of the contract will include the basic components that define the parameters of employee-employer relations. He said the employer will have no power over the employee and even the worker’s residence will not be under the employer.

He disclosed the ministry will require employers to pay security bond for the employment contracts of private sector workers.

In case of employee-employer disputes, Al-Kandari affirmed the aggrieved party has the right to submit a complaint to the concerned department, especially if any of the provisions of the employment contract is violated.

He added the ministry will continue protecting the rights of both the workers and employers even after the establishment of the authority.

Rights ProtectedZaheer Ismail | 12/6/2011 9:00:53 AM I would like to touch on the "Rights Protected" topic. For some private sector firms, is it really necessary for expats to hand their passports over to their sponsors or employees, I have a case where an employee's beloved had passed away and the employer wouldn't release the passport for him to go home and attend the funeral. Will this aspect be covered in the "Rights Protected" forum?Employers step over employees and tereat them like Garbage because Employers have the upper hand by possessing their employees' passports, which is absolutely incredible. Please revert back to me regarding this point.
