Transfer from Commercial visas to work contracts open

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 2: Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Affairs at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Jamal Al-Dosari has announced that the ministry will allow the transfer of commercial visit visas to work contracts from Dec 4th onwards for people hired by companies working on government contracts, reports Alam-Alyawm daily.

The privilege, however, is only for people of nationalities approved by the Immigration General Department, such as those from European Union countries, US, Canada and Japan which have accords that allow their citizens to get visas on arrival at the airport.

Al-Dosari said the procedure is aimed at enabling employers, who have contracts approved by the country and the Central Tenders Committee (CTC), to procure manpower without any delay. He added that employers will have to pay transfer charges and stressed the step is aimed at pushing the wheel of development forward.
