‘They were expats, we didn’t want them’ Murder suspects stay in custody

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 29: The presiding judge handling a lawsuit against four minors suspected in killing of two other minors - an Egyptian and an Iranian - ordered the continuation of detention of the suspects. The judge ordered that the suspects be made to attend court proceedings from the Central Prison.

The Public Prosecution accused the first and second defendants of premeditated killing of the victims, and the third and fourth defendants of participating in the act. It was easy to unravel the mystery, because the minor culprits took the prosecution officer for granted since they felt he didn’t have any authority to deal with them, while the officer was calm and professional in handling the interrogation. The third and fourth defendants claimed they didn’t participate in the fight that led to the death of the victims and they were oblivious of reasons of the fight. The first and second defendants also could not state any reason for the fight other than that the victims were expatriates who they didn’t want in Kuwait.

Hearing today: The Misdemeanor Section at the Court of Appeals, presided over by Judge Adel Al-Saqer, will listen Wednesday to the arguments of the defense panel in a case filed by the Burgan Bank against one of its officials and MP Faisal Al-Muslim, who have been accused of violating the confidentiality code of the bank.
Case files indicate the Public Prosecution had earlier charged the bank official and Al-Muslim with divulging secret bank information during the grilling of HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
The Court of First Instance had previously acquitted the duo of betrayal of trust but fined them for disclosing secret banking data.
