KUWAIT CITY, Nov 25: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department are looking for four young men for allegedly kidnapping a traffic police officer, reports Al-Rai daily
According to security sources the incident took place at 4:00 am opposite the Yacht Club. It has been reported the police officer and a lieutenant were patrolling in the area when they saw four young men moving suspiciously.
The officer ordered the youths to pull over and walked to their car. When he demanded to see their IDs one of them grabbed the officer and pulled him towards the car and held a knife at his throat.
The men then dragged the officer in the car and the man behind the wheel drove off with the officer. Seeing his colleague in trouble the lieutenant informed the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior and called for backup support at the same time kept informing the control room in which way the suspects were driving.
However, when the suspects reached Jamal Abdul Street in Shuwaikh, they abandoned the vehicle and the officer and escaped on foot.
The daily added the car has been impounded by the Maidan Hawalli Police Station in an attempt to find its owner.
