Huge quantity of subsidized food seized in multiple raids

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 20: Personnel from the Farwaniya branch of the Kuwait Municipality during campaigns in several areas of the governorate are said to have confiscated huge quantities of subsidized foodstuffs — sugar, rice, cooking oil, lentils and milk powder — from hawkers and referred the men and the contraband to the concerned authorities, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The Municipality is said to have also confiscated 11 truck loads of vegetables and fruits and two half lorries full of used clothes.
The men and the goods have been referred to the concerned authorities. The men are being interrogated to find out how they had access to huge quantities of subsidized foodstuffs.

Entry prevented: Immig-ration officers at the Kuwait International Airport recently refused to allow an Arab man to enter the country although he was carrying a travel document from an unidentified European country, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports the man was deported from the country in 1995 after he was convicted of consuming drugs. However at that time he was holding the passport of an Arab country.
The same officers have reportedly prevented a housemaid from an unidentified country from entering the country. She had been earlier deported and she arrived at the airport carrying a new passport.
The daily added the fingerprints system which has been implemented at the airport has helped prevent the entry of many people, particularly those who attempt to enter on forged passports.
